Thank you one and all for nominating me to be November’s “Man of the Match”.............ooops, sorry. It has been a few decades since I was awarded that designation. Nonetheless I do appreciate being awarded “Member of the Month” for November.

Without any doubt CSXdriver is the friendliest site I have ever encountered and while we may not all agree, all of the time, the reality is we do it with respect and a degree of camaraderie.

My family is a Honda family and has been for quite some time.  We currently have four Honda products in the family and the CSX represents my 5th consecutive vehicle from the manufacturer, but the first bearing the Acura logo.  Both my daughter and my eldest son are on their 3rd consecutive Honda (a 7th gen Civic EX Sedan, an 8th Gen Civic Coupe and an ’08 Si Coupe, and a 7th Gen Civic Coupe, an Element [a great beast] and an ’08 Si Sedan).

Having said all that, it was my wife who introduced us to Honda. In 1987 she bought a 1 year old Civic Wagon and absolutely loved it.  I was driving a VW Jetta at the time and in all honesty the Civic was hands down the better car.

In total I have been driving for 35+ years, and in that time I have owned 13 cars.  I have had some good ones, and in the early years some absolutely rotten ones.  Very few people today realize how good cars really are compared to those that were on offer in the early – mid 1970’s.  To date my favourites have been the Type S and my last Accord (an ’05 EX-L Coupe in metallic red).  For the sake of maintaining my reputation I will not divulge what the worst car was, but it was bad (really bad) and it was made in England.

I came to the CSX almost by default.  Initially I wanted a change from Honda products and decided I wanted a Mercedes.  But the Sales Manager at the local Merc dealer was a complete and utter jerk so I walked out vowing to never return.

But I desperately wanted a change.  Having been a devoted supporter of Toronto Honda for many years I went to the Sales Manager to see what my options were.  The new Accord was on the horizon but it was too big and ugly for my liking.  When I initially went off to Toronto Honda’s sister Acura dealership I was looking at a TSX but after driving it I felt it was too similar to the Accord I was planning on handing back.  The sales rep luckily had a moment of inspiration and suggested I try the CSX Type S and I was hooked.  But I did drive the regular CSX with the “flappy paddle shifters” but was not smitten.  After a week of rumination I decided to take the plunge, and I have been relatively happy since.

I collected the car on March 4th, 2007 and have been enjoying it ever since.  It is reliable, comfortable, reasonably fuel efficient, and a blast to drive.  While not the fastest car I have ever driven it is reasonably quick and it handles like a go kart, and therein lies its best attribute.

I am by far the oldest person on the forum and that colours my comments and thoughts.  I simply do not understand what some of the younger guys get all excited about, but I do admire their enthusiasm and the workmanship that goes into some of the modifications.  As an example, while I simply could not get my head around the computer in the trunk mod I was absolutely astounded with the quality of the installation.

To date my modifications have been limited to improving the lighting, comfort and appearance.

-          Mugen gold oil cap ( I think I was the first one with one of these)

-          Upgrade fogs to Nokya Hyper Yellow bulbs.

-          Mugen-style window visors (thanks Sam!)

-          Hood deflector (thanks Randy!)

-          K&N air filter (again, thanks Randy!)

-          Side sill garnish (yet again, thanks Randy!)

-          Installed a Scanguage II

-          Parking lights and all rear bulbs upgraded to LCD’s (thanks Orest for the guidance).

So again thanks and I am open to bribes for next month’s MOTM!!!!! J

First off, I want to say that this was a bit of a surprise, but I’m still happy at being chosen for this month’s MOTM, woohoo!

<cue Emmy Award’s lights and music> I want to thank my mom and my dad for bringing me into this world, my wife for letting me be a little obsessed over the CSX, all the great board members and the moderators and guys (Randy and Emjay) that put this forum together, and God for creating dinosaurs, that dies and decomposed and turned into oil, of which eventually an internal combustion engine came about and was invented, and which eventually through automobile progression, the CSX came about….OK enough thanks.

Since getting the car two years ago, it was a blast driving it then and I still enjoy ripping around in my habby red CSX! When car shopping then, I was almost going to get the civic, which is a great car, but just the little bit sportier nature of the CSX had me sold, plus its stylish good looks. All in all, I have been super happy with the CSX and for its balance of reliability, fuel efficiency and sportiness, there would hardly be another car that I would consider for the package it offers.

Mods that I have done to it include a Type S rear sway bar, 17x8 rims, and a custom SRI with a K&N cone filter. A mod that is to come (and I have been super delinquent on doing) is the LED license plate bulbs that I won from Orest’s summer photo comp (thanks Orest!). Besides that, I still think Habby Red is the best colour (though I think some just might argue that, hehe).

So, in the end I just want to say, that CSXDriver.com has been a awesome place since pretty much day 1, from friendly chat and to finding out stuff about our beloved CSX. So my hat goes off to the moderator/creators and all of the great members on this fine and classy forum! Have a good one, gang!

I bought my 2006 NBP Premium CSX in May of 2006... i fell in love with the car as soon as they did the unveiling at the dealership which was around the winter of 2005... when the time came for me to get my first car i had a huge sum of money saved up from working my first job combined with my birthday money that i put aside when i was small... i was looking at some used cars and my dad advised me to look at new because of the huge amount i saved up... i test drove many cars and i came close to picking another car... but when my dad suggested that we try to negotiate with the dealership i got the best thing that a kid could dream for... a brand new car... Since then i have pampered my car like no tomorrow... i stumbled across this group of amazing people on facebook and i was then invited to join the website... everyone here welcomed me with open arms and this little group of people have become a big part in my life story... from joking around to removing our bumpers at the meets ive enjoyed my stay here alot!!!

This is the most random thing ever, check my hotmail inbox and apparently I got a PM from emjay. I checked it up to see what’s up and next thing you know I’m nominated for February.

Big shout out to everyone that made this happen =)

I purchased my CSX back in May 2006.  Turn to today’s date and it’s sitting at 65,000km.  Yeah I know, I’m very aware that I drive a lot.  Dare to say my CSX has the most mileage so far on this board.

As far as modifications go, everything started to come together in mid 2007.

 800 for body kit
550 paint and install

750 compustar alarm + install
1000 rims and tires
900 tein ss coilovers (not installed)
500 audio
120 visors and grille
120 eBay muffler and install
30 delete first exhaust resonator
260 spoon n1 muffler
70 to weld and install spoon n1

That’s just a rough list on what I’ve done but there’s probably more.  My goal was to be the sexiest car in Vancouver, but a tragic incident stopped it from happening.  Mother Nature decided to kick my rear end and basically shattered my rims and body kit.  I’m hoping to fix everything up pretty soon.

As for that mysterious car I purchased, yes it is a Honda Del Sol.  I’m very aware that it’s a chick’s car.

I would like to thank all the members for supporting me.  I will make my grand return once the CSX is fixed up, but for now I’ll be rolling around in the Del Sol for the time being.

WoW this was honestly a huge surprise, i did not expect this at all! Thanks to Kate for the nomination and randy for making it happen ( not to mention along w/ the admins making this awesome and easy to use forum!!).

I got my csx somewhere around march of 06. I remember when i first got it i told myself i will NOT mod the car..yes NO MODDING! ( i look back and smack myself in the head sometimes lol) so that is for almost one year i drove the car all stock. It was good but not good enough then prior to the one year birthday of my car i did my first "big" change...tints..haha and from there it just took off!!! i do not regret at all driving my car stock for one year (but i still laugh about it) as i also do not regret modding it. I love my car and everyone that knows me knows i do. Unfortunately rumours say this car might be gone soon, but hell at least we csxers now have one!! haha

On this forum i have tried to contribute every advantage that i know of to help other members. And because i am just a 2nd year student, i am also known on the forum of --------> keeping lots of mod parts in my room because i have no money..you don't believe?? here's a Lil list

-the whole body kit
-the spoiler
-courtesy lights
-angel eyes
-jdm headlight (part of it)
-sway bar
-eye lids
-new muteki lug nuts (impulse buy)
-strut king pedals (impulse buy)

seems like a medium list...but shove it all in your room..and you just get mad at the sight hahaha. hopefully all this goes on before the summer! stay tuned.....=P

i want to thank all members of csxdriver and members of 8thcivic who have taught me and showed me what i know today. cheers to a new years and cheers to having our sexy cars!

KateCSX!!!

Wow, what a surprise! I am most grateful and honored to end the 2007 year as MOTM.

Although I officially joined in April 2007 I have been around in another form since March of 2006 when the CSX was purchased.

I had seen many commercials about the CSX and what caught my attention was believe it or not, the shift paddles. I don't drive standard but am a die hard F1 fan and wasn't really looking to change cars as I had a 2001 Mazda, the CSX seemed to draw me in and before I knew it, I was driving the car home.

I have a 2006 Silver CSX Premium AT with 3 sets of tires (2- RSA's and 1 Michelin X-Ice with Alloy rims), tint windows. All I am missing are the fog lights. Perhaps a future mod in 2008.

I have enjoyed attending the meets and forming friendship with the many CSX'rs as well as Civic'rs - Tate, Creative Leo, KitCSX (thanks for the mention), Menaknow, Wing (will be getting that Nikon D40). If I have missed anyone I do apologize. Meg and I have always had a great time.

I would like to give a special thank you to Emjay and Randy for all their help (tire changes) as well as support and friendship. Thanks so much bro's, luv ya lots....

And for those who would like to know my name is Cathy and formerly known as Mrs. Jet.

Happy Holidays to all !

So... It's finally my turn to be MOTM. I dreaded being chosen because it meant I'd have to do a write up. But since I’m here already I'll try my best to write it up.

The CSX is my first car. My parents gave it to me as a gift for getting into university. Awesome parents. Originally my price range for choosing a car was $20k and for a lil while I had my eyes set on the Toyota Yaris Sedan.  Seemed like an ok lil car and was in my price range. But then out of curiosity I went into the Acura dealership and test drove the CSX and let me tell you, it was no Yaris. So long story short I now drive a CSX. Even though it was a little out of my price range, actually a lot out of my price range I manage to convince them that it was the better choice.

Over the last year, I have managed to spend every dime I have on my car. Mods to date:

Mugen Bodykit
Mugen Spoiler
Mugen Window Visors
Mugen Rear Emblem
Mugen Stickers
Csx All Season Floor Mats
Foglights
Type-S Rear Swaybar
Tein S-Tech Lowering Springs

Ogroch!!!

It’s awesome to be recognized for all my fact finding work & contributions!  I really do my homework and find out everything that is needed and all the facts when I’m doing one of my mods.  From lights, sway bars, to audio – I’ve researched it all and I am extremely happy with all the results.

I spent over 6 months looking for my CSX.  Test drove over 30 vehicles, went to every single dealership in Edmonton and looked at every single car in the sub $45k market.  After months and months of searching I finally found what I wanted, and the wait was certainly worth it.  I really like my CSX – after driving a 79 Malibu, 81 Lemans, 98 Sable and 04 Camry – I can honestly say that the CSX really does stand out and certainly makes me happy every single time I take it out for a spin.  I ended getting the 3rd last Touring 06 left in Western Canada, and thank God it was the color I was looking for!

I work in Edmonton, for one of the largest financial institution in Canada, and I really enjoy my work.  Keeps me on my toes and is pretty exciting.  I just love seeing all the looks I get when I drive my CSX through the parking lot – hey it might not be the most expensive car on the lot, but man does it definitely turn some heads when people hear that engine go and the music cranked.

Of course my name is Lionel, I live in Edmonton Alberta.
And to this day I am the only ASM Type S in the City. Confirmed by the dealership west side Acura.

I'm only 22 and work for the city of St.Albert as a software specialist, training to be an Edmonton Police Officer.

One thing I really love about my car is the looks I get when I drive my car. Nothing compares to the fun factor of my car and not to mention that my girl friend loves it to. I went from driving a toyota tacoma to an 07 CSX Type S.

RANDY!!!

Back in late 2005 I had the opportunity to take the first drive in the Acura CSX at a ride and drive event hosted by Acura of Canada. The event was held in Toronto where they set up a closed course to test drive the all new Acura CSX. It was an incredible experience and I knew then that this was the car for me.

It was a few months later that I purchased a 2006 Acura CSX Touring. I installed alot of extra accessories which included 17" OEM Alloy wheels, Fog Lights and Auto Day/Night Mirror to name a few.

It wasn't long after the rumors started about the elusive TYPE-S and the possibility that it would come in white. The rumors turned out to be true and I knew I had to trade up to a white TYPE-S. I have been driving The TYPE-S now for a couple months and have to say it is 10 times the car my touring model was. I truly love this car and hope to drive it longer then usual as I tend to switch cars often.

There are numerous reasons why I drive the Acura CSX but when it really comes down to it the best thing about it is that it is a car built and sold only in CANADA. I'm proud to be Canadian and proud to drive a Canadian vehicle.

CSXDriver was created for Canadians that drive the Acura CSX. In September we will be a year old and we are still growing and it's great to be part of the best and only CSX Driver Community on the internet, don't be fooled by imitations.

I would like to finish by saying Thanks to all the great members of CSXDriver. I have had the opportunity to personally meet members from three different provinces and have made some great friends close to home here in Ontario. CSXDriver wouldn't be as great as it is without all of our great members across Canada. Thanks to all of you for making CSXDriver what it is today.

My previous car was a 2001 Vintage Plum Premium 1.7EL (Automatic).  During one of my service visits, I asked to test drive a new manual CSX.  I really pushed the car and was impressed at how quickly it responded.  When I got back from my test drive, I was told that my EL would soon require new brakes, rear shocks and a flushing of my transmission line.  Since I already knew I had to get new summer tires for the EL if I kept it, the choice was obvious – time to upgrade.

After talking some initial numbers with the dealer, he told me about a big nation wide invitation only sale they were having the following week.  I came back a week later and after some serious negotiating I got the deal of the day and had my beautiful Red CSX.

I then found this amazing Web site filled with a bunch of great smartassed posters, who were funny and almost as passionate about their cars as they were about going off topic.  I was hooked and my life as a Postwhore began.  The Web site may have changed but the gang remained the same and kept growing.  We’ve had some great times along the way and a few rough bumps but as I’ve always maintained, what makes a great site is great members.

I’m pleased to be March’s MOTM and share it with all the members both past and present.

2006 Nighthawk Black Pearl Acura CSX Premium (Automatic Transmission)

Our decision to purchase the Acura CSX was not a difficult one to make. My
wife and I were aware that the Honda Civic would be getting a complete
makeover for 2006, which could only mean that the Acura EL would also be
changed. While waiting for the CSX to be released we decided to give the
Civic a closer look. We liked what we saw, and the ride was definitely
comfortable, but there was something missing. Fast forward to December 2005.
We scheduled an appointment at our local dealership, took a test drive and
fell in love. We took delivery of our car in May 2006 to celebrate our 4th
year wedding anniversary and have never looked back since...

Some people may laugh at my love for detailing, but I truly enjoy making our
car look good. I believe that if you treat your car properly it will take
care of you.

We plan on keeping our CSX for a long time, and I will make sure that it
looks just as good, if not better than the day we picked it up.

I am truly honored to have been selected as February's Member of the Month.
Not only have I become the owner of a great car, I also became part of a
great family here at CSXDriver.

I started thinking of replacing my car (’99 Accord coupe) in winter of 2006 as the KM were starting to get higher, not because it wasn’t working well (it’s a Honda), but just easier to sell. At first I was just going to buy a low KM used car. I was in no rush though, my old car was fine and I still loved it.

In the summer of ’06, I strongly started looking at vehicles, new and used. I was looking at the new Civics and considering the Imprezas as well, did some number crunching, and both fit my budget. Near the end I was almost set on a Civic, just because of Honda’s reliability. I knew the CSX’s were around, but didn’t think they’d fit the budget.

In new car buying mode, I decided just to go take a look at the CSX, which I thought was a little out of my budget. Took a test drive, and dang, I loved the car. Mostly it was the upgraded engine and suspension that sold me. Driving it was just so much more fun over the Civic. I did more number crunching, and the lower interest rates made the numbers a little more feasible. The original plan was for the base model, but because of a slip up of the dealer saying they had a MT base w/ sunroof in the lot when it was automatic, they gave me an excellent deal on the Premium, making the payments pretty close to what I’d be paying anyway, sweet! So in early September ’06, I drove away in my new Habanero Red Pearl CSX and still love it. Every one that sees my CSX loves the looks and the interior. Plus it’s an Acura, so you don’t see them as often as the Civics, so it makes them not as common on the road.

All in all, I love driving my CSX (currently at 14,000kms!). It’s not a sports car, but it definitely gives a sportier ride than my past vehicles, yet being able to retain civility when you’re just cruising or daily driving. With my new 17 inchers being put on in the spring, plus the planned Type S rear sway bar, I can’t wait for the increased response in driving!

I’m more than honored at being chosen for CSXDriver’s January MOTM. This forum, with its many great members, has been a great source of information and entertainment, and I’m looking forward to the future of great times with everyone! Happy New Year everybody!

In 2005 I decided to start looking into replacing my 1995 Dodge Neon. Don’t laugh! It was a fast, little, economical, fun car to drive. But alas, it was nearing the end of its useful life thus beginning my quest for a new car. I researched all aspects of buying cars such as initial cost, resale value, reliability and looks. ;)

This narrowed the list to the Lexus IS, Acura EL, Volvo S40, VW Jetta and even the beloved Mazda 3 ;). Some of these cars were not looked at further due to astronomical price and others due to questionable reliability. So late Summer/Fall 05 I went down to my local Acura dealership and test drove an EL. I loved the white EL and since it was end of model year I asked if there was a white one available. He told me no and I was set on a white car so I let the opportunity pass. Then I noticed there were rumblings on the internet that there was a replacement for the EL. I decided to hold on and see what was coming down the line for Acura. I saw the spy shot of the CSX and was not blown away. (It was a shot of the rear of the CSX taken on a highway at night near the Alliston plant) So I decided to hold my judgment until I saw one in person.

I went to the dealer the day before it was officially and test drove a silver auto CSX. I loved the CSX!!! I wanted a standard and they had no demos to test drive so I waited until one came in so that I could test drive it. A couple of weeks later; I test drove a manual and what a difference! I loved the buttery smooth shifting and the quiet high revving engine! I loved the Neutron Blue, Royal Blue and Habanero Red. So now I tried to negotiate a deal. No go! :( They would not budge from MSRP!

So my new car dream was put on hold. Then, I stumble on a website (which shall remain nameless) where I meet a bunch of fun, crazy owners and enthusiasts of the CSX. Countless hours were spent on that site; I was learning all I could in regards to pricing and the cool accessories. Cue end of August, I called the salesperson that RedCSX had bought the car from and negotiated a deal over two days and I picked up my car Sept 1, 2006. I got a good deal and Red got a nice surprise as I had used him as a reference!

I’m up to slightly over 4000 km and enjoyed each one of them! Thanks all for the honor of being December MOTM!

After selling my 1999 Toyota Paseo by surprise, I was suddenley on the hunt for a new car.

The moment I test drove the Acura CSX I was in love, but decided to think about it for a bit, as I’ve always been frugal and indecisive when it came to buying cars.  However my husband surprised me with a phone call at work the next day when he told me he had just purchased me a galaxy grey csx….  Yippee! It was a done deal, and I’ve been loving my car ever since.
